Tyndale was founded in 1967 and originally traded from Tyndale Terrace in Camden Town London, hence the name. The business was a typical labour only carpet fitting organisation and continued in this manner until the mid 1970’s when it was acquired by Derry Treanor Ltd (DTL), a contract carpet firm in Hampstead, London.
The two companies traded separately, although Tyndale did carry out some of the installation work for DTL. The business moved premises twice, first to Brewery Road, North London and then to St Marks Rise, Dalston, near Hackney. By the early 1980’s the business was offering supply as well as the installation of flooring, but DTL and Tyndale continued to move further apart until they completely separated in 1990.
During the 1990’s the business developed rapidly:
Come the new Millenium, a new period of change and growth began:
2001 - both Tyndale Solutions and Tyndale Maintenance were sold.Major Projects
Our landmark project in the late 1990’s was the new Hong Kong Airport at Chep Lap Kok an £8 million contract carried out from 1997 until 2000.
After the tragedy of 9/11 in New York the Commercial Flooring market changed, large carpet tile projects disappeared almost overnight but were replaced by PFI Hospitals, Residential Projects and Hotels (see our projects section for examples). These were very different types of project, which took a few years to understand and appreciate how to execute profitably.
The name change from Tyndale Carpets to Tyndale Flooring took place in 2006 to encompass and reflect the multitude of different types of flooring projects we now undertake.
