The Tyndale Group were proud to be awarded the “Installation of the Year 2007” award for their work on the John Radcliffe Hospital project. Our Project Manager Mark Baldwin is pictured above receiving the award from Terry Wolfe, President of the CFA.
The John Radcliffe Hospital covers some 50,000m2 and Tyndale’s contract ran for 52 weeks.
Careful planning was essential as the condition of the concrete slabs meant significant floor preparation was necessary.
Other major challenges to the planning process, were ensuring that the correct materials, in the correct colours were installed in the thousands of areas within the hospital. Phasing was additionally hampered by limited access to the main hospital streets and stairs.
There were also the additional challenges of the many complex designs, patterns and welding - acres and acres of welding!

All the other common problems of clearing the areas from other trades, heating, and environmental issues were all there to add their own complexity and challenge. At the peak of the project, Tyndale had some 38 specialist flooring installers on site at the same time.
The project itself was awarded to Tyndale by Carillion based on good working relationships and a history of excellent installation skills, logistics management, quality and value for money.
Previous projects between the two companies include the Carillion PFI Hospital projects at Dartford and Swindon.
